I have vague memories of this being served up at my parents’ dinner parties when I was young. Slow cooked beef casserole with its rich red wine sauce. It also seems quintessentially French to combine beef with bacon, onions and mushrooms.
However, I’m not here to query the combination. It is no doubt ages old and tested by those far more worthy to comment than I. My job is only to tell you it makes a wonderful dinner. Delivered to your home frozen, it is ready to reheat and delicious served with crusty bread or potato (however you like them!) and veg.
